Glass rolling pinenamelled with flower decoration and also with a rare case. Glass rolling pins were often given as love tokens by sailors to thier wives or sweethearts. One end of this rolling pin would have been stopped with a cork, sometimes filled with sugar or salt, or as Robert Mills says his book British Folk Art (page 61) “Rolling pins with corked ends are thought to have been used to smuggle scent into Britain from abroad” The red velvet covered case maybe original to the pin or maybe later, it is very unusual and rare to find.
