Collection of sailors Fids
Used by sailors and sail makes, fids were used to loosen knots and separate the strands of rope for splicing.
The two largest are made from ash and are 17″ & 13″ long, the smallest is made from lignum vita 12″ long and the ash & beech mallet is 11″ long & 7″ wide
19th/early 20th century, found in Carmarthenshire.
