Massive 17th century Welsh oak grain chest Sold
A wonderful and substantial Welsh oak grain chest. In excellent condition and made from solid oak with untouched colour & very heavy! Original wooden “Welsh-hinge” and scratch carving to the frame. A rare chest in remarkable condition.

A similar chest from is illustrated in Vol I of Welsh Furniture 1250-1950 by Richard Bebb, Saer Books 2007. The illustrated chest belonged to the Jenkins family from Gelli, Glyncorrwg, Glamorganshire.
